If you are one of our Belgian or Swiss readers, it seems there is good news for you. The blogMacradionindeed claims to have spotted tests of the HomePod mini inSwedish, which you can actually discover inthis video. However, it turns out that this language is part of a list of several dialects identified in a recent update of the enclosure.
Indeed, in December, version numbered 15.2 of the loudspeaker operating system supported Dutch for the Netherlands and Belgium for the first time, theFrench from Belgium and Switzerland, Russian, Italian spoken in Switzerland and German also spoken in Switzerland. Following the deployment of this version, however, no change seemed to have taken place in the Apple Stores in these regions.
Several hand-picked testers
According toMacradion, although Swedish is not yet officially supported by the HomePod mini, some users have actually received models that are equipped with it. Their job would then be to check that the software does not contain any bugs, before possibly offering it in new countries. Our Flemish and Swiss neighbors are therefore perhaps next on the list.
As is often the case, Apple has not commented on the matter and there is little chance that this will be the case for the moment. However, it could be that the final edition ofiOS 15.3(currently in beta only) will be unveiled at the same time as its equivalent for HomePod, with additional capabilities for Siri and the arrival of the product on Swiss, Swedish and Belgian shelves.
Price and availability
The HomePod mini is currently offered, in mainland France, at the price of99 euros. Originally available in space gray or white, it has recently been available in three other colors: yellow, orange and blue. With its integrated home voice assistant, you can easily set an alarm, find out the day's weather or even consult your calendar with a simple spoken command.
The operation is similar to that of an Amazon Echo or a Google Home, and it is also possible to manage all of itsHomeKit connected objectsfrom the enclosure.
