Huawei takes inspiration from Apple and unveils the Huawei Card

In Europe and North America, Huawei is handicapped by American sanctions since they prohibit Google from collaborating with the Chinese manufacturer. As a result, the Mountain View firm's services, such as the Play Store for application downloads, YouTube, or Gmail, are not preinstalled on Huawei smartphones.

On the other hand, in China, Washington's sanctions have no impact on the manufacturer's sales. And recently, during the presentation in the Middle Kingdom of the Huawei P40 series, the Chinese giant even allowed itself to expand its list of services with a bank card similar to the Apple Card, called Huawei Card.

According to the Abacus site, Huawei's card works pretty much like Apple's. There is a physical card, and a virtual card. Users who subscribe to this service receive discounts when shopping with Huawei Card.

And it is also possible to make payments using NFC technologies and via QR Codes (which would be one of the preferred payment methods for Chinese mobile users).

Huawei presents a service similar to Apple Card for the Chinese market

As a reminder, Apple's payment card was created in partnership with the American bank Goldman Sachs. Huawei Card, for its part, was developed by Huawei and the Chinese bank Union Pay.

It should also be noted that although Huawei has provided for annual fees, the Chinese giant offers the service free of charge during the first year. At the moment, we do not know when Huawei could launch this card, since no launch date has yet been mentioned by the company. We can imagine that for the moment, Huawei will focus on the Chinese market. In essence, Huawei seems to have taken inspiration from the Apple Card, and adapted the idea to the Middle Kingdom.

We recall that for the moment,Apple Cardis only offered in the United States. However, Goldman Sachs, Apple's partner, does not rule out offering this service in other countries.“With this product (Apple Card), we're going to start in the United States, but over time we're absolutely going to think about the international opportunities that are available with this one”, declared a bank official a year ago.
