On June 22, Apple will certainly benefit fromla Worldwide Developer Conferenceto announce the next version of its mobile operating system. In particular, we expectCarKey, a new feature that would allow users to unlock their car from their iPhone without needing to enter the vehicle key. But as of today, first improvements are to be tested withiOS 13.6, the iteration which has just been revealed for all those registered in the public beta test program. Note that this beta version of iOS 13.6 is actually the new version of iOS 13.5.5published last week. There will therefore be no release of iOS 13.5.5, Apple having decided to go directly to number 13.6.
Health and symptoms
The first notable change concerns the Health application, which has a section calledSymptoms. As its name suggests, this allows you to provide information on potential signs of illness or deficiency, which range from constipation to muscle pain and abdominal cramps. We can then add “power” criteria (which range from severe to absent), each problem being accompanied by a clear definition to avoid errors. A smart strategy to better prepare for a doctor’s appointment.
More control over operating system downloads
The other notable addition is installing updates, which can already be set to “automatic” in order to avoid having to search for them manually with each new version. Until then, we can enable or disable this setting. But in iOS 13.6 there are two new steps. It is possible to choose to play on the following options:
- enable or not download the software (recommended via Wi-Fi to avoid spending your mobile data plan)
- activate or not its installation, proposed via a notification generally sent at the end of the day
The system can therefore download any new update as soon as it becomes available, without immediately going to installation.
This staggering should delight all those who rarely have the time to wait several hours to receive the necessary file in order to benefit from the most recent iteration ofiOS. A more common situation than it seems, when you are notified at work or close to a hotspot with relatively low bandwidth.
If you are interested in testing this new iOS beta, follow this guide. Please note, this is a version of iOS which may still contain many bugs and malfunctions. We do not recommend installing it on your primary iOS device.
And other OS
Apple also offers downloads for users registered in the beta test program, versions 13.6 for iPadOS, as specified above, but also for tvOS. Finally, for macOS, beta 2 version of Catalina 10.15.6 is also available.
For iPadOS, the changes are the same as for iOS 13.6 (except for the Health app, unavailable on iPad). For tvOS and macOS, no major additions are currently noted. A priori, these would only be bug fixes and improvements related to the security and stability of the systems.
