It's official: Apple CTO Craig Federighi presented iOS 16 at theWWDC 2022. Several additional features are included, including a fully customizable lock screen with the ability to choose the font or colors and add widgets.
With this, the technical director also presented us with aredesign of the notifications section, allowing for example to better follow a match live or to control your music in full screen. Concentration mode is also improved, with the arrival of filters to only display this or that conversation in Messages depending on the time of day. For example, you can decide to only read communications with your colleagues when you are in the office.

To finish with the new features, Apple also announced thatLive text will be offered on videosthanks to the update to iOS 16. This solution allows you to detect characters in images, useful for example if you want to retrieve a long Wi-Fi access code from the back of a box.
Who can install iOS 16 on their iPhone?
iOS 16 is compatible with all iPhones currently available in stores. This means that you will be able to download the software on iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, but not only that. THEiPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max are also eligible.

THEiPhone SEsecond andthird generationas well as all iPhone 11s are also affected. Others, however, are left aside, such as the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus (marketed in 2015) or the very first iPhone SE.
iOS 16 release date in France
Unsurprisingly, Apple did not specify an exact date for the deployment of iOS 16: we were just entitled to a “this fall“. We can bet, however, that the first betas will arrive shortly, but they are of course likely to be riddled with bugs. We therefore advise you to wait until the final version, which could arrive around September during the keynote launching theiPhone 14 to come.
