The
“Hey Siri” functionality will be improved with the upcoming arrival of iOS 9
(this Wednesday, September 16).
Indeed according to the final beta (golden master) of iOS 9, when we activate the
“Hey Siri” feature, iOS records voice saying “Hey Siri” as
voice signature which it will then use to constantly compare the
surrounding noises and launch Siri at the appropriate time.
The objective of this new vocal process is toimprove the
keyphrase detectionand soavoid triggers
untimelyrelated to the environment or to another person who states
the sentence!
This comparison operation is done locally on the
machinewithout it having to send the sounds to a
remote server to be analyzed, thereforeno worries to worry about
regarding confidentiality.
This is good news when we know that the iPhone 6s can use this
functionality at all times without needing to be plugged into the mains.
