During the Worldwide Developer Conference, Apple presented iOS 18, iPadOS 18 as well as watchOS 11. New versions of its mobile operating systems, with the arrival of completely new native apps. In this file, we come back to the most important ones, with of course details on the different functionalities offered by the publisher with each platform. Here we go.
Passwords have nothing to envyTrousseau iCloud
To begin with, you should know that iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia finally have a real password manager, worthy of the name. The app is simply called “Passwords” and allows, as its name suggests, to centralize all of your identifiers within a single platform. As a bonus, Apple announced that the software is compatible with identification keys which make it possible to do without traditional codes, in favor of biometric unlocking solutions such as Face ID or Touch ID.
Apple passwords app seems pretty basic so far. No custom fields and no word on cross platform support.
Reserving judgement until full release but right now, stick with a proper password manager.pic.twitter.com/rHSdyKy9ge

Passwordsalso comes with a generator, to create robust credentials that are more complicated to hack, in theory. And as is often the case with Apple Continuity, the data is saved in real time in the cloud, so you can connect from any device, at any time. Finally, note that Wi-Fi passwords can also be saved in the app.
Calculator arrives (finally) on iPad
Alongside Passwords, it is also the Calculator appwhich finally arrives on iPad, after almost fifteen years of waiting (a client for Mac and iPhone has already existed for a long time). Among the main advantages of the touch tablet version, we will note the compatibility with Apple Pencil styluses and in particular the “Pro” model also presented during the Worldwide Developer Conference.
Craig once said Apple will only make an iPad calculator app when they can make it so good that people would go WOW.
Everyone laughed that off (obviously) — me included.
But here we are. They actually made a calculator app that’s WOWing people. 😳pic.twitter.com/f1qQ2MGey7

The Calculator app for iPad is very complete, and also allows you to consult a detailed history of past mathematical operations. Users can also use the platform to perform unit conversions on the fly, which is also possible on Mac. And thanks to the “Math Notes” feature, your formulas can even be synced with the Notes app in iPadOS 18 and iOS 18.
What is the new “Image Playground” app?
Image Playground is a new standalone app, but which is also accessible in the form of integration with other applications in the Apple ecosystem. As you can guess from its nomenclature, this platform allows you to create images using artificial intelligence. This is one of the tools of the Apple Intelligence suite announced during WWDC, and designed in particular in partnership withOpenAI.
The images generated in this way can, for example, be included in a Freeform canvas, or in a slide in the Keynote app, recalling the value proposition of Gemini in Google Slides. Apple has already explained that the metadata of the drawings created in this way will specify that artificial intelligence is at the origin, in order to fight against the dissemination of possible false information.
Vitals sur Apple Watch
Finally, note that Apple Watches running underwatchOS 11are also equipped with a new app: Vitals. This allows you to quickly track your most important health data, and more precisely, during your sleep. However, we don't really understand why we separated this solution from the Health app, which already has features dedicated to monitoring our well-being.
