Apple is reportedly preparing different iPhone 12 models for this year, with no surprises so far. What is rather surprising would be the fact that 5G technology would not be the same depending on the model. Some iPhone 12s would be equipped with classic 5G connectivity, others with faster 5G mmWave connectivity.
Etrecently, a report from the investment firm Susquehanna suggested that the Californian firm would launch a two-stage launch of these different types of iPhone. Models with classic 5G would be released in Q3 2020 and models with 5G mmWave would be released later, possibly in early 2021.
But renowned analyst and Apple specialist Ming-Chi Kuo has just refuted this hypothesis in a new report. He claims that all of Apple's upcoming 5G iPhones, probably the different models in the iPhone 12 range, will be released in 2020. However, he does not rule out the possibility that some of them will be released at the start of the 4th quarter of the year, i.e. during the month of October. In addition, remember that, still according to Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 12 5G mmWave would be reserved for certain markets offering the 5G technology in question, such as the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, or even the United Kingdom.
A two-stage launch would in any case not be surprising on the part of Apple for its iPhones. The Californian firm has already operated in this way in 2017. The iPhone 8 was released in September, then the iPhone X in November. However, both models were presented at the same event, at the back-to-school keynote at the beginning of September.
This year, Apple should therefore present all the models succeeding the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro/11 Pro Max also at the same time, i.e. during the September 2020 keynote.
