The iPhone 14 Plus is here: what do the first testers think?

Finally available in store,l’iPhone 14 Plusoffers a slightly different value proposition from that of the basic iPhone 14 since here we are entitled to a larger screen, reaching 6.7 inches compared to 6.1 inches for the “small” model. On the other hand, it will be without the triple rear photo sensor of the iPhone 14 Pro and without ProMotion refresh rate at one hundred and twenty frames per second as well.

Several specialist media have already been able to try the product, giving us their first feedback. Starting withour colleagues fromThe Verge, who note excellent battery life for everyday use as well as ascreen "radiant. On the other hand, the site also mentions a size that may be too large for some palms: the smartphone is large, very large.

The price in question

ChezEngadget, the opinion is a little more mixed. Thus, if the newspaper without hesitation rents a more affordable price than that of the iPhone 14 Pro Max (we are talking here about1 169 euroscompared to 1,479 euros in mainland France, respectively), no USB-C port is available at the moment. A problem which could however be resolved shortly, given thatEuropean Union regulators voted against the practice.

On the side of the YouTuber Marques Brownlee, whom others know mainly by the name of his channelMKBHD, we especially notice that despite Apple's marketing arguments, the iPhone 14 Plus will not always be seen as a major update. And for good reason: the chip is the same as on the iPhone 13 Pro, while the benchmarks do not showno significantly higher performance.

A better camera?

Finally, let us also mention the case ofCNET, who took a close look at the photo capabilities of the iPhone 14 Plus. The magazine notably notes better shots in the context of scenes inlow light, this being made possible thanks to a wider opening of the sensor. The new Photonic Engine, which did not exist on the iPhone 13 or the iPhone 13 Pro, also has something to do with it.

The iPhone 14 Plus featurestwo photo sensorson the back: an ultra-wide-angle and a wide-angle of twelve megapixels each but no telephoto lens, the latter being reserved for the iPhone 14 Pro.
