iPhone 16: a 14-year-old Italian built a false rumor in 10 minutes

Lorenzo is a 14-year-old Apple fan. Originally from Italy, he admitted to being at the origin of the invitation card announcing the holding of a conferencenext September 10. In his words, he was bored while sick and built this design in about ten minutes. He then allegedly sent this image to a known leaker, who spread the news in the hours that followed.

The young Italian was surprised to see his invitation go around the web so quickly. Not only did the leaker concerned take the bait, butit was taken back immediatelyby the entire microsphere linked to Apple. No one has ever questioned the design created for the occasion by Lorenzo, who said he was “very surprised” by such a success.

A false invitation, but real information

When publishing this false announcement created from scratch by Lorenzo, the leaker Majin Bu, who was the first to publish it, clarified that he had “no way of verifying this information”. He specifies in his original message that “everything seems very plausible”.

In exchanges on the social network X, the leaker explains to the specialized information site Cult of Mac that he is never “100% sure” of what he publishes. He assures that he encourages his audience to be suspicious. For his part, Lorenzo specifically targeted Majin Bu because “people trust him” and he knew that his fake invitation card would end up on the person's account within a few hours.

Conference on the 3rd or the 10th?

Whatever the case, the main information behind this real fake invitation card concerns the presentation date of the iPhone 16. Lorenzo had counted, like many, on Tuesday September 10. Other rumors suggest that Apple would chooserather Tuesday September 3.

The Apple brand has undoubtedly already decided internally, but no official information has yet leaked. The invitations should arrive in the coming days in the mailboxes of the people concerned.Like during WWDC, they are invited to Apple Park but should not sit in Apple's large amphitheater to attend a live conference. They will only be able to view images pre-recorded by Apple and its communications teams.
