HomePod with screen: a source confirms its launch

While rumors initially suggested an arrival of the HomePod with screen for 2024, the project seemed to have fallen behind schedule in recent months, but it seems that Apple has finally found its cruising speed.

We learned last December that the release was postponed untilthird quarter 2025, thanks to the very knowledgeable Ming-Chi Kuo. New information today confirms that things are accelerating behind the scenes.

The supply chain in turmoil

According to Taiwanese media DigiTimes, renowned for its sources at the heart of Apple factories, suppliers are working hard to be ready on time. The screen7 inch LCD, which will equip this new HomePod, would be exclusively supplied by the Chinese Tianma Microelectronics.

This diagonal, slightly greater than the 6 inches initially mentioned, suggests a more comfortable visual experience. For comparison, the iPad mini offers a diagonal of 8.3 inches. Choosing an LCD panel rather than OLED will also allow Apple to control production costs witha unit price of around 10 dollarsselon DigiTimes.

An attractive technical sheet is becoming clearer

Performance-wise, expect a quantum leap. ThereA18 chip, already present in the iPhone 16, would work under the hood of this new generation HomePod. It will be supported by Apple Intelligence for improved voice and visual interactions.

The interface would also be managed by adedicated operating system called “homeOS”. You could personalize your home screen with widgets and control all your home automation equipment from your HomePod. The icing on the cake, integrated camerawould allow you to make FaceTime calls and monitor your home.

Ambitious features that explain the additional development time, but which promise to transform the HomePod experience.

If DigiTimes confirms a release for thesecond semestre 2025, some sources even mentionan arrival in March!
