The first MFi-labeled Lightning / USB-C cables soon on the market

While theUSB-Cis increasingly present on Apple products via MacBooks, it is now also present on external batteries and fast chargers. Apple sells a lightning cable allowing you to connect your iPhone to a USB-C socket.

But where Lightning/USB-A cables certified by Apple as part of the MFi (Made For iPhone) program are particularly widespread, varied and economical (see our promotional codes at the end of the article),no third-party USB-C offer labeled by Apple has yet been put on the market. But these cables are coming!

Indeed, last week, Apple informed accessory manufacturers that the components to create these Lightning/USB-C cables with MFi certification are nowcommercialized.

They require a specific lightning connector (reference C94):

This is sold by Apple at a price of $2.88 each, to only eligible manufacturers (therefore respecting the MFi specifications, which relate to the quality of the components but also to production practices).

The first deliveries will be made in6 weeks. We should therefore see thefirst MFi lightning/usb-C cables on the market in early 2019. They will undoubtedly be signed by classic brands like Anker, Aukey and other big names.

For those who are wondering about the usefulness of such a cable, the first is to be able toplug it directly into a recent Macequipped for MacBooks, only with ports in this format.

But that's not all, in fact, recharging with a USB-C charger is much faster than with conventional recharging. You can thus recharge an iPhone X from 0 to 50% in around thirty minutes. To use it when writing, once you get used to it, it's difficult to return to classic speed!

With the opening to third-party manufacturers, the cables should be offered at a cheaper price than that of Apple (€25 for 1m, €39 for 2m).
