The Wall Street Journal revives the rumor of a 'low cost' iPhone

This is not the first time we have heard ofApple which
would consider offering a cheaper iPhone
intended for the “pre
paid" majority in some countries. Today, the Wall Street Journal
rekindles the flame by announcing that Apple could release this type of iPhone as soon as
This year.

According to sources, even if the idea has already been mentioned at Apple in the
past, sheseems to be progressing at the moment:

According to the Wall Street Journal which is considered rather reliable and measured in
its assertions (unlike Digitimes which also mentioned this
possibility recently), this 'low-cost' model would resemble the iPhone 5
current. But to cut corners on the manufacturing blow, the Apple firm
could use polycarbonate for device body and recycle
old iPhones to remove parts and then refurbish them.

Obviously, this rumor should be taken withgigantic
tweezers
since Apple already offers cheaper iPhone models
which are actually the previous versions of the smartphone. Additionally, Apple has no
not really in the habit of skimping on design and materials to lower
the costs.

We therefore remain very divided on this possibility, 2013 will tell us!
