Apple relies heavily on the development of services
2020 should indeed be the year of the start of 5G but, according to analysts, it will take several years before it is appropriated by the general public. Enough to allow the iPhone SE, based on 4G, to last for a long time. Over its entire lifespan, the device could even become a real cash cow ingenerating $2400 per customer over the next 30 months,relying on services.
It would be particularly suitable for augmented reality or 3D games on Apple Arcade, giving hope for substantial revenues. It is precisely in the area of services that Apple is scoring points. The latter represented 18% of the company's revenues last year. This involves in particular the development of the new streaming platformApple TV+which continues its steady progress. From a global point of view,the Cupertino company is approaching 500 million paid subscriptions, with an average of 30 million additional per quarter.
It remains to be seen whether these analyzes will prove to be accurate, but if this is the case, Apple would have achieved a great success and could wait for the democratization of 5G with peace of mind.
