iPhone: 6 new designs of the Dynamic Island on the run!

According to our colleagues fromMacRumorswho had access to sources close to the case, theDynamic Islandcould have proposed acompletely different designon Apple iPhones. The manufacturer has in fact imagined several designs of this animation of the notch, which could ultimately disappear in favor of a camera under the screen. The latter could appear by 2025 on the iPhone 17 Pro, according to specialist analyst Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC). The name of future smartphones, however, remains subject to doubt and could change; Let us remember, however, that these should be released in almost two years.

Among the different versions of theDynamic Islandconsidered internally by Apple, we find a very particular one which suggests installing shortcuts on the right edge of the front of the iPhone. A positioning which is of course reminiscent of that of Samsung's Galaxy Edge, but which clearly stands out when the island present today is still at the top of the screen. This is where the TrueDepth sensor dedicated to Face ID is located, biometric unlocking technology by face recognition from Apple and also present oniPad Pro.

TheControl centerin theDynamic Island?

Images shared byMacRumorsalso show us that Apple would have previously wanted to integrate the different shortcuts of itsControl centerdirectly into theDynamic Island. This would then be displayed in a good formatplus largethan today, but combining the time, the indication of the remaining battery percentage and the icon for adjusting the brightness.

Alongside it, we also find a welcome functionality to access theGPSwithout going through the Settings app, although today it is still impossible if you want to deactivate or activate the sensor. Not very practical for the sake of confidentiality, especially when we know that Apple makes the defense of personal data the credo of many of its communication operations.

A little punch that has it in spades

Close to theDynamic Island, Apple would also have considered installing a second interface overlaying the screen, this time in the form of apunchalready appeared in our columns in the past. Remember: when the rumored iPhone 14 Pro display was still just a rumor, renderings already suggested that its manufacturer wanted to split the cutting of the front sensors into two very distinct elements. Ultimately, it is clear that this will not be the case. However, even today, rumors are rife that this concept is perhaps still in the works.

Timetable for the disappearance of theDynamic Island

To return to the move to the camera under the screen envisaged by Apple, know that Ross Young estimates more precisely that the “Pro” iPhones of2025will only install the TrueDepth sensor behind the panel. The twelve megapixel lens dedicated to selfies, for its part, would continue to be cut out, precisely in the manner of the punch that we have just mentioned. A design that should persist with the supposed “iPhone 18 Pro” in2026, but which would give way the following year to mobiles with both Face ID technology and the FaceTime lens behind the OLED display.

Judge for yourself, the timeline below is rather clear on the subject:

So weird. How about now?pic.twitter.com/7g9eOhJIet

  • Apple would have tested several designs for theDynamic IslandiPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro
  • The island format may be changed in the future
  • We could be entitled to a unique clipping of the FaceTime camera, while the sensor would be hidden under the screen and therefore invisible
  • The first iPhones with TrueDepth sensor under the screen would arrive in 2025
