iPhone: Luxshare equips itself for twice as many orders

Nikkei Asiareports that Luxshare is currently building agiant factory dedicated to iPhone productionin his country of origin; China. The building, located in Kunshan (Jiangsu), will benefit from 285,000 square meters of useful space, the equivalent of around forty football fields. The number of employees who will work there is still unknown, but several thousand service providers are already carrying out the work.

Production

Luxshare's new logistics unit should enable it to honortwelve to fifteen million iPhone deliveriesby next year, compared to less than seven currently. A significant increase of almost 50%, enough to seriously compete with the big names in the sector such as Foxconn, Wistron or Pegatron. They too are based in Asia.

Of course, we immediately think ofiPhone 14 which would likely arrive by next Septemberon the market. These should be available in four different versions; two with a 6.1-inch screen and two others with a larger 6.7-inch display. But that's not all, sincethe iPhone SE, too, is expected in a new edition in the first half of 2022.

A major investment

Still according to the information shared byNikkei, Luxshare would also have bought an adjoining factory belonging to Compal Electronics, assembler of iPadswho would have worked on their Pro versions with mini-LED screen. The cost of this acquisition has not been revealed, but for the entire new complex it would amount to more than a billion and a half euros – at the current exchange rate of course, converted from a sum in yuan .

TheturnoverThe estimate for this unit, for its part, would be more than ten times higher, also counting the rental of part of the premises in addition to the assembly of iPhones.
