We shared with youa rumor in Februaryregarding the team that developed the Apple Vision Pro. A report from Korean media outlet Alphabiz claimed thata significant part of this workforcewas repurposed, with the aim of developing the folding iPhone.
AppleInsider deemed this rumor unlikely, due to the specificities of each engineer, concerning their field of study. According to them, Apple Vision isa new range in its own rightin the apple firm's catalog. AppleInsider's point is that there is no reason for Apple to reallocate staff from the line of devices that use the most technology. Adding to their argument thatother Apple mixed reality headsetswill be released within 18 months, and that it is therefore not consistent for part of the team to be transferred.
It's possible according to 9To5Mac
A new report from Alphabiz, relayed by Digitimes, mentionsalways the same information. Please note that the folding iPhone is designed for2027, it should be 7 to 8 inches, and that Apple's delay is due to the quality of the screens.
Regarding the team transfer, 9To5Mac thinks that:
It wouldn't be at all surprising if some Vision Pro engineers were moved from a launched product to one still in development. In particular, it would make a lot of sense to reassign those who are capable of solving problems that arise during the design, prototyping and pre-production phases. So this is almost certainly true.
Our opinion
Our opinion is that it isindeed likely that Apple has reallocated part of its workforcefrom Vision Pro to folding iPhone. AppleInsider's point of view is also understandable, but the reports do not mention that the entire team was reassigned, but only part. 9TO5Mac's point therefore seems coherent.
One might add that this perhaps corroborates with a previous report from a former Meta executive, specializing in virtual/mixed reality. The latter claimed that the Vision Pro wasover designed at the hardware level,on certain aspects. Perhaps the part of the team supposedly reassigned to the folding iPhoneno longer has a role to play regarding the Vision Pro.
Especially since previous rumors mentioned a future Apple Vision headsetcheaper than the Pro. Which logically should not require so many engineers and technicians.
