The fourth generation iPhone SE could be released as planned next spring, with not only its panelOLEDbut alsoApple Intelligenceon the menu. The suite of AI features is currently limited to the iPhone 15 Pro,iPhone 15 Pro Maxand iPads or Macs equipped with Apple silicon chips.
This news should delight small budgets, since until now they seemed to be excluded from users who could benefit from Apple Intelligence on mobile. What's more, the journalist behind these new rumors, Mark Gurman, assures that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus could also be announced as compatible. However, their release is scheduled for next month, it seems.
The iPhone SE 4 was originally due to be released between March and May this year, but Apple ultimately postponed their presentation. The design should be reminiscent of the iPhone 14, in particular, with the installation of a notch and Face ID on the front. The Touch ID fingerprint sensor would disappear, and the Lightning socket would give way to the universal USB-C connection, which is very popular with consumers.
iPhone SE 4: a better screen and a new format
According to Mark Gurman, the fourth generation iPhone SE would be entitled to a new OLED screen. This should be identical to that of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16, offering better contrasts than the LCD technology present on the front of the third generation. However, you should not expect to benefit from a ProMotion refresh rate of one hundred and twenty frames per second on the entry-level model. This technology is in fact reserved for the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max, for the upcoming collection.
TheDynamic IslandiPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max would also not be offered on the fourth generation iPhone SE, which will have to make do with a less attractive size/screen ratio. Despite everything, the move to a larger display could prove to be much more comfortable than the panel of the previous version. What's more, the format would not necessarily suffer the consequences.
Indeed, today, let's remember that the borders around the screen ofthe third generation iPhone SEare particularly wide. The result is a lackluster size/screen ratio of around 65%, for dimensions of 138.4 x 67.3 x 7.3 mm compared to 146.7 x 71.5 x 7.8 mm for an iPhone 14. In short, the chassis of the fourth generation should therefore be significantly larger, but still remain reasonable. Where the iPhone 14 Plus or iPhone 15 Pro Max are sometimes too imposing for certain palms.
Performances on point
In all likelihood, the fourth generation iPhone SE will also be powered by a powerful chip. It should therefore be theA17 Proor a component with equivalent power. As a reminder, it is this motherboard which today equips the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max, with high-end performance and therefore the possibility of running Apple Intelligence's AI operations. It is perhaps the transition to this new hardware which would allow the new iPhone SEs to also have the right to the sequel.
Moreover, we assume that the new iPhone SE could also carry six gigabytes of RAM, but this will still have to be confirmed during the official presentation of the mobile. Its price could be around six hundred euros, more than the price charged today to purchase the third generation in the official store.
- Fourth-generation iPhone SEs would have an OLED screen
- Fourth-generation iPhone SEs would be compatible with Apple Intelligence
- The processor of these mobiles should be similar to that of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max
