In his usual weekly newsletter, the journalist fromBloombergMark Gurman explains that Apple has been thinking about offering a new range of iPhones for some time now. The most affordable sector is already occupied by the second generation iPhone SE, sold from 559 euros today. It would therefore rather be a question here of proposing a modeleven more high-end than the Pro Max. The new brand in question could take the name ofUltra. A suffix already given to Apple Watches or the most powerful processors available on Macs.
The new device could also see the light of day in2024. It is also during this period that Apple's virtual reality headset is expected, the presentation of which would take place at the next Worldwide Developer Conference. Of course, for both of these products, you will have to expect a particularly high price, as is often the case with the American manufacturer. Today, its most expensive smartphone is the iPhone 14 Pro Max: 1,479 euros in base price, with 128 GB of internal storage (the bill is even higher with more memory).
What are the differences with an iPhone 14 Pro Max?
The supposed future iPhone 16 Ultra will still have to deal with a major problem: that of competition. In this segment, Android already does the job very well and the iPhone 14 Pro Max remains a performance monster with its A16 Bionic chip, the ultra-fast file transfer of AirDrop or its very fluid operating system on all occasions. Apple will therefore have to find how to differentiate itself.
Will we finally be entitled to arechargefaster? To a sensorphotowith more megapixels? At the end of the notch for a camera under the screen? For the moment, it's difficult to know and Apple does not communicate on its internal projects anyway. The company prefers confidentiality until the day of the announcement, but leaks are increasingly complicated to avoid withseveral tens of thousands of employees all around the globe.
iPhone Ultra: what could appeal to customers
To get an idea of the arguments that Apple could study for its next very high-end iPhone, we can turn toa survey carried out by SellCella little earlier. This tends to demonstrate that consumers are waiting for an improved design, which could also materialize withmore rounded borders for the iPhone 15.
With this, it seems that the return of the charger in the box upon purchase would also be much appreciated, as would the reinstallation ofTouch ID. If this first reversal will probably not take place, the second, on the other hand, is apparently already discussed at Apple.
