What is Formbook and why do we like it?

Formbook is a multi-use application. It has the potential to replace many note-taking applications (Google Keep, Bear, Apple Notes), but also inventories and databases (Collections Database, Memento Database, Apple Numbers) or even secure registers, for sensitive data for example (1Password, Enpass, Secrets).

Having tested Formbook at length, I find it on many points just as capable as Notion or even Evernote. Here are the points that I particularly appreciate:

• Interface claire :Formbook shines with an extremely successful design, perfectly matching the Apple and iOS style. But even with the ergonomics of the app, we have the impression of dealing with a native iPhone application. Except that, unlike the applications of the Californian firm, Formbook is much more powerful
• Many uses:the application is truly multifunctional. You can use it to simply create, for example, a telephone contact database, or make it a password manager, or even be able to build your own health and sports activities monitoring sheet. In addition, Formbook has recently integrated an intelligent tool capable of generating the template for your notes based on the name of your workbook. Create a “cooking recipes” folder and the app automatically offers you the fields “number of people”, “recipe type”, “recipe cost”, “preparation time”, among others

• An affordable price:the application is free to use with small limitations. And for only €8, you can unlock all the features (see details below on this subject)
• Local-first :Unlike a service like Notion, which centralizes all its data on its servers, Formbook benefits from iCloud synchronization. Which means you have access to all app data offline. This also means that it is indeed possible to work on your Formbook notes without an internet connection, something not really possible with Notion
• Truly universal:not only is the application available on iPhone, but also on iPad, Mac, and even Apple Watch! In fact, you can consult your Formbook workbooks from your wrist!

• Very regular monitoring:the developer regularly offers updates to the application with corrections of added functionality and improvements to the foundations. In June, for example, Formbook was updated 6 times!
• Without subscription:Personally, I shy away from subscriptions and try to avoid any service or application that works with a recurring payment. Mathieu Morgensztern had the good idea of ​​only offering in-app purchases, with two good points. The first, there are only two, one to unlock additional fields, the other for sharing workbooks. The second good point comes from the prices, €3.99 per in-app purchase, so €8 in total to unlock the entire app... As a single purchase, it's not much, compared to certain competing applications which can cost from €20 to €120 per year

This is just a short presentation of the app, only scratching the surface of the possibilities offered.
