So the rumor was true. Apple has just presented a new high-end model at the Far Out Keynote this Wednesday: the Apple Watch Ultra. Among the big changes made to this connected watch, we can notably note a new design with a larger screen. The Cupertino company targets people attracted by exploration and long outdoor activities.
First of all, we note the presence of a screen equipped with a sapphire crystal and a brightness of 2,000 nits, as well as a 49 mm titanium case and a redesigned digital crown. Battery life also peaks at 36 hours on a single charge, as well as an extended maximum duration of up to 60 hours.
The Apple Watch Ultra, a serious competitor for Garmin?
For example, and for water sports enthusiasts, the watch has WR 100 water resistance. Likewise, a depth application launches automatically when you are underwater. Suffice to say that this option will delight underwater divers.
The Ultra also features an improved multi-band GPS, which includes the new L5 frequency. If this detail doesn't mean anything to you, you should know that only certain Garmin and Coros watches offer this functionality.
As noted by our colleagues fromThe Verge, this Apple Watch Ultra differs from other models of Apple connected watches which focus on connectivity advantages, or even health functionalities. Here, the emphasis is largely placed on fitness and competition promises to be tough against rivals already well established in this field such as Garmin and Polar.
The future will confirm this, but Apple may have just struck a major blow by unveiling this Apple Watch Ultra. This device will be available from Friday September 23. It is sold at a price of 999 euros.
During the same Keynote, we were also able to discover the new Apple Watch Series 8. You can already readour articlewhich goes into detail about the technical characteristics of this model.
