Ming-Chi Kuo published a report a few hours ago on probable future developments from Apple. He spoke aboutfirst folding iPhone that the Californian would prepare, but also delivered his analysis on the iPad mini. According to him, a new generation of the smallest Apple tablet would arrive well in thesecond half of the year.
If we cross-check this information with Apple's usual release schedule for new iPads, we can count on the arrival of a new iPad mini, 6th generation therefore, around October or November. September is generally the month reserved for new iPhones and new Apple Watches.
The analyst hopes that this iPad mini 6 will be inspired by the iPad Pro and the iPad Air to offer a more current design. We would actually not be against abandoning this aging style with wide edges and Touch ID button on the front. And while the current model displays a screen diagonal of 7.9 inches, the next generation would see its panel increase by a few millimeters to reach9 inches diagonal. If several rumors are in agreement on a larger screen diagonal for the 2021 iPad mini compared to the current generation, the 9-inch diagonal is not unanimous. The specialists at Macotakara are betting instead on a diagonal of 8.4 inches.
Still, the refresh of the iPad mini is expected, after that of the iPad Pro having gained a very powerful Apple silicon M1 chip.
