Apple TV+ series “Ted Lasso” will end at the end of season 3

It was the creator of the series himself who announced that it was going to end, once this season 3 was completed. “Ted Lasso” isone of Apple TV+'s biggest successesand the series played a fairly important role in the growth of subscribers to Apple's platform. But the creators of the latter have decided that this third season, which should be released in a short while, will indeed be the last - barring a miracle -.

The series, which became popular with the release of its season 1 at the beginning of summer 2020, brought many new users to Apple's SVOD platform. It tells the story of Ted Lasso, an American football coach who is hired to coach a football team (in the kicking version that we all know) although the latter has no skills in the sport. The series therefore follows his adaptation and his daily life in an atmosphere more focused on comedy.

The creator of the latter, Bill Lawrence, who hopes to see production of his season 2 begin in January in the United Kingdom, if health conditions permit, announced that his series would therefore come to an end. He who signed with Apple TV+ for a season 2 and 3 explains that the third will be the last of the series.

“Ted Lasso is a series with an ending”

Drawing a parallel with The Mandalorian (the Disney+ phenomenon series which is part of the Star Wars universe), Lawrence explains that The Mandalorian can continue, because it is based on a vast universe, where Ted Lasso is the only series of this universe. “Ted Lasso is a series with an ending” he explains in the podcastFake Doctors, Real FriendsZach Braff and Donald Faison.

But Lawrence is not completely abandoning the idea of doing a season 4. He can even seem quite supportive in some of his statements. “After the third season, I will desperately try to convince Jason Sudeikis” (the main actor) he declares before correcting himself:

"The only way a fourth season of Ted Lasso would exist would be if he (Ted Lasso) was going to coach a football team that played about a block from Jason's house in real life, you see that what do I mean? » thus leaving doubt about the future of the series, and putting the weight of the decision back on the shoulders of Jason Sudeikis, the actor of Ted Lasso.

For its part, Apple TV+ seems ready to let go of its gem “Ted Lasso” which still has many good years ahead of it. If the end of the series is indeed announced in this way by Lawrence, the latter should only arrive on our screens in a few years. Enough to give the Apple platform time to develop other original content. In this sense, we recently learned thatSamuel L Jackson was going to star in a mini series exclusive to Apple TV+ in the coming months.
