Three months ago,first rumors announced that MacBook and iPad could accommodateMini LEDin their slab very soon. The principle consists of changing the arrangement and size of the light-emitting diodes which illuminate the screen to enable it to offer a much more efficient contrast than before on this type of device.
The other advantage lies in the space occupied by such a system: since the components are smaller, the tablet could ultimately beplus fine. A considerable asset on which most manufacturers work,including Apple for its laptop chargers.
New subcontractor in Asia
New leaks have just indicated thatInnolux, a company based in Taiwan and already a provider of the 17-inch dashboards found in Tesla cars, has reportedly started the production of Mini LED screens for Apple assembly factories. They could thus, at the end of the chain, end up in the premises ofFoxconn.
This is probably the modelProwho could benefit first. As a reminder, it is sold at a price of 899 euros for its most affordable version on the official website of its designer. Some graphic designers prefer it for work, and having access to the more complete range of colors provided by this type of LED could therefore be a major new commercial argument, even if the majority of consumers will not notice the difference with previous versions.
Indeed, just like 5G, this improvement is mainly intended for professionals. So much the better: this is the target targeted by the high-end tabletApple.
