The new star browser of iOS finally benefits from its AI

Brave is an alternative to Safari that many iPhone owners now seem to be adopting. This is whatdemonstrated the company recently.

Before updating to iOS 17.4, users couldn't choose their default browser because Apple's Safari was forced on everyone. But sincethe European Union has decided that Apple must open its ecosystem to competitors, users are now offeredmultiple browsers when setting up iOS.

This opening of iOS allowed Brave to see its number of downloads skyrocket. This to the delight of Brendan Eich, the CEO of Brave, who is also co-founder of Mozilla Firefox, and creator of JavaScript.

A month after this rise in power,Brave now benefits from its AI assistant Léo on iOS and iPadOS.

What can he do

Léo was announced in November 2023 for the desktop versions, and at the end of February 2024 on Android. The iPhone is the last to benefit, but it's better late than never! As TechCrunch reports, here's what Leo is capable of in Brave for iOS:

In addition to summarizing pages or videos, Leo can answer questions about the content he reads, generate detailed written reports, translate or rewrite pages, create transcriptions of video or audio content, and write code.

Several choices of LLM

One of the advantages of Léo is that it gives the choice between several LLMs (large language models like GPT-4, etc.). You can selectLlama for general chat, Mixtral for advanced tasks, and Claude for conversation and text generation.

A Pro version of Léo is also available for16.99 euros per month, with many advantages. Léo Premium, for example, gives access to the most advanced versions of the models mentioned above.

Claude from Anthropic is also considered by users to be the best AI. In certain areas, it would outperform GPT-4, knowing that the model was developed by former OpenAI employees. To learn more about Brave, you can consult our article on the subject.
