The next iPad Air will have the right to a unique screen from Apple?

Apple could launch a brand new screen for its iPad Air. While a new version of this tablet is planned for the beginning of next year, rumors, notably launched by specialist analyst Ross Young, estimate that Apple could use a 90 Hz screen for its tablet.

For now, the iPad Air uses a 60 Hz screen, just like the “standard” and “Plus” iPhones. The Pro and Pro Max models are entitled to ProMotion technology, allowing the screen to have a refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120 Hz. If this functionality should therefore not be included on the new iPad Air, Apple could find a middle ground, upgrading 60Hz screens to 90Hz.

A 90 Hz screen for Studio Display

In this desire to improve the refresh rate of its screens, Apple could, according to Ross Young, integrate its 90 Hz technology into the next version of the Studio Display. The iMac, which was just updated a few weeks ago, could also have the right to 90 Hz.

iPhones will be entitled to 120 Hz

Finally, the “standard” and “Plus” iPhones which still have a 60 Hz screen for the moment could benefit from this change in Apple’s range to adopt “ProMotion” technology, integrated into the iPhone 14 Pro. The addition of this option on the iPhone 17 is strongly anticipated by analysts Ross Young and journalist Mark Gurman, who spoke about it during his last newsletter (Power On).

However, it will be interesting to see how Apple markets this feature on the iPhone 17 and 17 Plus. Indeed, ProMotion was one of the main differences between the “classic” iPhone and the “Pro” models. Without it, it will be much more difficult to get users to buy a “Pro” iPhone.
