At theUncle Sam, the House of Representatives and thesenatehave just voted on a reform which is still waiting to be validated by the presidentJoe Biden. This is that ofNational Defense Authorization Act(NDAA), which is revised every four years. The reform notably contains a section that many whistleblowers have denounced, including the very famous Edward Snowden.
Congress has voted to pass the NDAA—in which they deceitfully concealed an extension of the warrantless spying program ("Section 702") universally opposed by the public.
Last year the FBI exploited 702 to spy on Americans (protestors, donors—even Congress) more than 200k times.

In his post on the social network [X], he denounces: “Congress voted to pass the NDAA, in which it deceptively concealed an expansion of the universally publicly opposed warrantless spying program (“Section 702”).Last year, the FBI exploited 702 to spy on Americans (protesters, donors — even Congress)more than 200,000 times.»
Section 702, door open to all abuses?
If Joe Biden validates the reform, then the American intelligence services will be able to request information from any entity governed by American law throughout the world, without any warrant. The reform aims basically to fight against terrorism, but whistleblowers point out certain abuses concerning this measure. According to them, it is used primarily to serve the interests of the American government. This raises concerns about themass surveillance and potential privacy violations.
Critics point out that although the law is presented as a national security tool, it could exceed this initial objective by affecting the privacy of communications and individual freedoms. Whether it is toUnited States, but also in other countries, including France.
Will the United States be able to spy on me as a Frenchman?
If you use an email service that does not use a sufficiently secure protocol such asSMTP, and which is hosted by a company governed by US law, then yes, it is theoretically possible. However, they must have a good reason to do so.
