The daily habit of elites and the Apple Vision Pro

In an interview published byCNBC, Whohad already been able to speak with Apple executives recently, journalist Joanna Stern explains having used the Apple firm's mixed reality headset for a month. The American officiates at theWall Street Journal, daily newspaper considered among the most reliable in the United States. Billionaires such as Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger and former President Barack Obama say they read his columns every day.

For Joanna Stern, unfortunately, using aApple Vision Pro(price: $3,499) doesn't seem to have really paid off. The user specifies that the device will never really replace her computer, even though that is the purpose of the mount. But looking closer: it makes sense. The journalist is in fact clearly not the target of the virtual reality headset, which is primarily aimed at professionals looking for performance. We also see, by taking a closer look at the apps that arrived on visionOS in its early days, that the publishers have understood this well. Numerics allows for example to create tables ofKPI* in 360 degrees, while Cyberstocks offers tracking ofstock market pricein real time. Among the most attractive services offered on the App Store for the Vision Pro, we can also cite Numbers (spreadsheet from Apple and also accessible on macOS), Decky Dashboard (to follow all your social network accounts with a single interface) or again MyExpenses (to do your accounts) and Kineo (animation).

Apple Vision Pro: amust havefor nomadic entrepreneurs

Many other advantages can be noted on the side of the Apple Vision Pro, but also other devices such as the Quest Pro from Meta. We know, for example, that it is easy, with these devices, to generate as many virtual windows as you want. Whatreplace external screens at willand with infinite dimensions, without paying the staggering price of purchasing several large monitors! This is a significant advantage for fans of daily teleworking whose wallets are deep enough to spend $3,499, likeBill Gatesand others cited previously.

When it comes to comfort, mixed reality glasses are alsomuch more practical than a MacBook Pro, in theplaneor on public transport. Where you will have little space between you and the seat opposite, the Apple Vision Pro gives free rein to your movements. Even better: with the device, there's no need to lean forward when you don't have a suitable workstation. Smart, to avoid the back pain that results most of the time.

The Apple Vision Pro is not made for…

...for gamers: despite everything, let's remember that the Apple Vision Pro still remainsbelow the competition in the gaming field. The PlayStation VR or the games available on the Steam virtual reality headset easily relegate the device to the rank of outsider, here. What's more, the Apple Vision Pro does not come with any controller – although it is possible to pair controllers via Bluetooth.

The Apple Vision Pro is also not really suitable for long-term use. Its weight makes it difficult to support for more than an hour, moreover the battery does not last more than double on a single charge. Pain in the neck and itchy eyes will be the burden of the users of the device. Fortunately, it is rumored that the manufacturer is preparing a lighter and therefore more comfortable version in the future.

For these same reasons, we would also advise against purchasing a Vision Pro to equip yourself with during sports sessions. Instead, choose, for example, Solos connected glasses for cycling or even Vuzix Smart Swim for pool swimming.

  • The Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset did not please a journalist fromWall Street Journal
  • This is because the headset is primarily intended for professionals looking for productivity
  • Journalists or gamers are therefore not the ideal target for the manufacturer
