You probably haven't escaped the phenomenonChatGPTand its different applications. In recent months, AI has been everywhere, and we are witnessing surprising uses of these technologiesin the musical fieldand many other sectors of activity.
For his part, Bill Gates is particularly enthusiastic about this major turning point. The Microsoft founder recently attended the ASU+GSV event in San Diego, organized by several universities.
Valuable help for students
The billionaire took the opportunity to extol the merits of language models in teaching. According to him, these should very soon be used to replace humans when learning to read and write. He explains in particular that it is a boon for the most disadvantaged children who do not always benefit from quality education:
Having access to a tutor is too expensive for most students – especially having that tutor adapt and remember everything you've done and look at all of your work.
The entrepreneur adds that he thinks we are very close to the time when these AIs will be able to“engage in a dialogue in which they help students understand their shortcomings”.
And Bill Gates cites the example of the initiative of the Khan Academy, a non-profit association, which createda virtual teacherusing GPT-4. It helps students in the areas of mathematics, science and social studies.
“Khan Academy announces that it will use GPT-4 to power Khanmigo, an AI-powered assistant that functions as both a virtual tutor for students and a classroom assistant for teachers”, he specifies.
