The iPhone 12 is the number one 5G smartphone

Released in mid-October, Apple's phone has become a benchmark in the circle of 5G smartphones. The Apple model quickly became the best-selling 5G-equipped phone of October, even though it was only available during the last two weeks of the month. Even more impressive, the phone is ranked seventh in the annual 5G smartphone rankings, even though it was released months after its competitors.

Counterpoint, which is at the origin of these figures, ensures that in the month of October, the 5G smartphone reference was the iPhone 12, by far. Apple had such a hold on this market, that the second best-selling 5G phone was the iPhone 12 Pro.

Between them, the Apple brand's models represent nearly one in four 5G phones sold, with 16% and 8% of sales respectively for the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro. In the rest of the ranking, Samsung's phone, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G, only has 4% of sales. Three models from Huawei occupy the places of honor with 3% of sales, the Huawei P40 5G, the P40 Pro 5G and the Nova 7 5G.

5G: One selling point among others

But these figures should be taken with caution. If in fact, the iPhone 12 far exceeds the rest of the competition in terms of 5G smartphones, we must not forget that the arrival of this new communication technology is not the only selling point for Apple. The Apple brand has in fact relied on other elements to attract its customers with this new model. Where the competition offers 5G models with the only advantage being compatibility with this new network.

If Apple, and Tim Cook in the first place, strongly insisted on the presence of 5G in the iPhone 12, the latter was one of the many improvements made by Apple this year, along with the new chassis, the Ceramic Shield or the new A14 chip.
