Mac: extended delivery times, problematic supply involved?

We would be witnessing what could happen to the iPhone in the coming weeks, and even the coming months. If the Chinese coronavirus continues to spread in China, and in all four corners of the planet.

Not only are some major events in the tech world taking a hit, including the Mobile World Congress,as announced here, but manufacturers will also probably face supply difficulties in the future, due to the slowed activity of certain suppliers with factory closures as a health precaution against the virus.

And Apple would already pay the price on its range of Macs. Indeed, it has been noted that in the United States, certain MacBook Pros, iMac Pros, Mac Pros and iMacs are currently experiencing delivery times ranging from10 to 26 days.

For France, here is what we see at the time of writing this article:

  • Mac Pro: delivered March 12
  • iMac Pro: delivered between March 26 and 3
  • All other Macs: guaranteed next day delivery

France seems visibly less affected by Mac delivery problems compared to the USA. Although it should be noted that the Mac Pro, for its basic configuration, displays a nice delay:28 days!

So of course, it is impossible at this stage to define the causes of such a delay. But knowing the situation of Apple's suppliers in China, it is very likely that the supply of Mac components will be affected by a slowdown in production on Chinese soil.

The iPhone could follow this same trend soon, especially the 12 model, if the epidemic continues. This is also what revealed areport this morning, while the iPhone 9, scheduled for release next month, should soon enter production, without apparently being too concerned by supply concerns.
