Mac Pro 2023: the computer is “produced in Thailand”, a first

Applerelocates a large part of its productioniPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. But one device has always had special treatment for the Apple brand. The Mac Pro, updated for this new WWDC, may have presented the “produced in Thailand” label, but its installation still ends in Austin, Texas.

On the company's premises, more than 25,000 people take care of the final assembly stages for the Mac Pro. Since 2013 this factory has been solely dedicated to Mac Pros. Apple's most powerful, but also most expensive, computers are designed with the greatest care, by expert hands.

For the first time in 10 years, however, the words “Produced in Thailand” appear on the labels validated by the FCC on the latest Mac Pros. Apple could have relocated part of Mac Pro production to this Southeast Asian country. The final stages of production would still be carried out in America where quality control would also be carried out.

Mac Pro: simply powerful

The new Mac Profeatures a powerful M2 Ultra chip. In its maximum configuration it can reach a 24-core CPU and a 76-core GPU. The unified memory is 64 GB in its classic configuration but it can go up to 192 GB. The maximum storage is 8 TB.

With such a technical sheet, however, you have to count on a few thousand euros to afford such a beast. In its optimal configuration the Mac Pro can cost more than 15,000 euros. The price of excellence without doubt.
