Apple could release new versions of the Mac Pro and Mac Studio before the end of next year. At least that's the hypothesis established by specialist journalist Mark Gurman. In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter (a reference for Apple news), he explains that the Cupertino company should update its Mac Pro and Mac Studio in 2025.
Other rumors had already suggested in the past that these devices were going to be updated by Apple. The rumor is now confirmed by Mark Gurman. According to information from the Bloomberg agency journalist, Apple should launch these new Macs during the second half of 2025.
Apple would have the ambition to complete the deployment of the new M4 chip, first launched in the iPad Proa few weeks ago, with a Mac Pro and a powerful Mac Studio. The arrival of these devices could push the M4 chip to its limits. As the M1 chip had done in the past, the M4 processor should experience various versions, up to the most powerful of all,l’Ultra.
No Mac Pro M3?
Under this name we find a processor twice the size of a “Max” which is already the assembly of two “Pro” chips. Apple has so far only produced the M1 and M2 Ultra. These are still available on the Apple brand's website, in the current versions of theMac Pro.
Apple should therefore logically update its Mac Pro and Mac Studio directly from M2 to M4, thus skipping a generation. A process already used by the apple brand in the past. The latest example in this regard is the release of the iMac M3, which took over from the iMac M1. There will therefore (probably) never be an iMac M2.
