First MacBook Air M3 performance test

By unveiling its two new MacBook Air M3 models yesterday, Apple was full of praise for them, praising much superior performance to their big brothers.

To verify these claims, let's see what the usual performance tests say. The siteMysmartpricehas in factspotted Apple's new toy in the GeekBench database,in version 6.GeekBenchAs a reminder, it is the most popular performance test on the market.

The MacBook Air, powered by the M3 chip, got3157 in single-core test, whileit reaches 12,020 in multi-core. According to the data shown in the performance test, these would be the results of the 16 GB RAM version, offering a processor with 8 cores (CPU), and a graphics card with 10 cores (GPU).

The chosen model seems not to have been chosen at random. This is indeed the most expensive version, which isoffered at 2059 euros(in 15″) on the Apple Online Store. For comparison, there isa version of the MacBook Pro M3 which is offered at 1999 euros, or 60 euros less.

The latter, however, does not offer 16 GB of RAM, but has a better screen that supports Pro Motion technology, with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and better autonomy.

20% more powerful

The latest MacBook Air M3s are according to the testGeekBench 20% more powerful than their predecessorsequipped with the Apple Silicon M2 chip. The 20% also concerns the single-core performance test. In multi-core, the M3 does 18% better than the M2 on the MacBook Air.

The latter are, as a reminder, offered in 13 and 15 inches with astarting price of 1299 euros. For this amount, you get 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of SSD storage.For those who want 16 GB of RAM, you will have to take the most expensive version which amounts to2059 euros for 15 inches, and 1759 euros for 13 inches.
