macOS Catalina is available for all users

Apple has just made the new version of its OS for its computers, macOS Catalina, available to all users with a compatible machine, which brings its share of new features and changes.

To install macOS Catalina, simply tap  at the top left, then “About this Mac“. In the Overview tab, finally press “Software update“, you should see the new macOS Catalina version to install appear.

As this is an important update that changes a lot of things, we recommendto back up your dataBefore making the switch to macOS Catalina, you never know.

The machines compatible with macOS Catalina are as follows:

  • MacBook (2015 or newer)
  • MacBook Air (mid 2012 or newer)
  • MacBook Pro (mid 2012 or newer)
  • Mac mini (2012 or newer)
  • iMac (2012 or newer)
  • iMac Pro (2017)
  • Mac Pro (2013 or newer)

Among the new features of macOS Catalina to try upon installation, we can mention new independent applications forMusic, TV and Podcasts, but also the functionalitySidecarwhich natively allows you to transform aiPad as second external screen(works wirelessly and wired).

The serviceApple Arcadeis also available on macOS with the same subscription as on iOS, and many are playableby connecting a PS4 and Xbox One S controller to the Mac.

The functionScreen timeof iOS 12 is now also available for macOS Catalina users, to know about time-consuming apps and control the time spent on the computer.

There is also a new app “Locate” which combines “Find My Friends” and “Find my iPhone”, which brings a new functionality allowing you tolocate devices offline.

Finally, we can also mention several app updates that have been improved, such as Photos, Reminders, Notes, Mail and Safari. There is also a new accessibility feature,Voice Control, which allows you to control a Mac entirely by voice (even without an internet connection).
