Google Maps update on iOS: new practical shortcut bar and customizable icons for your favorite addresses

Google
updated its applicationGoogle Maps sur iOS, with
new features already introduced in the Android version of the app. It is for the
suddenlynew shortcut barpresenting different
information particularly on traffic and public transport. Also from
the part, acomplete new tab on places of interest at
proximity, as well as the possibility of personalizing your addresses
favorites thanks to a whole new set of icons.

So here are some additional functions in this already very complete app and
many tips for use of which are described inour file which
is specially dedicated:

First of the new features introduced by the new version of February 2018
of the Google maps app on iOS therefore, a shortcut bar which is displayed
automatically at the bottom of the screen. This includes3
tabs:

  • Discover: dedicated to places of interest in the surrounding area.
    Apart from the local weather, therefore, are displayed in the tab first of all, in
    photos, some cafes, bars and restaurants nearby. Then below,
    shortcutsmake it easy to find supermarkets,
    post offices, gas stations, pharmacies, parking lots, or nearby hospitals
    of its position.
  • Car: dedicated tojourneys

    addresses registered in his account, work, home or other.

shortcut, the app offers itself asmall aesthetic addition
welcome: the possibility of personalizing your addresses
recorded. To do this, you must go to the “Your addresses” tab of your
account, press the three small dots to the right of an address and choose
"Change icon".

There is then a choice oflittle fun drawings representing
homesmainly, but there is also a dragon or a
submarine, for the more adventurous… Choose an icon and click “Save”
to validate your choice. The address in question is now displayed with
the corresponding icon.
