At the Worldwide Developer Conference 2021, Apple announced that the modeSpatial Audioand Lossless quality would be available on June 7. However, these advantages only concern paying subscribers to Apple Music, the streaming service preinstalled on all iPhones. To benefit from it, it is therefore necessary to subscribe to one of the different packages on the platform (from 4.99 euros per month for students).
The proprietary Spatial Audio technology consists of offering sound broadcast from several directions in order to further immerse the listener. Some people talk about “three-dimensional” music, but we can also compare it to 360 Reality Audiofound for example on headphones from Sony. As for theLossless Audio, these are simply lossless and therefore better quality tracks.
Before launching Hi-Fi titles on Apple Music, it should be noted that they are not in fact all compatible. It is indeed necessary to check that the Lossless logo (below) is attached to it. In addition, you must also equip yourself with the appropriate equipment: for example, the speaker of an iPhone will not really make a difference with a file of lower quality. Conversely, a high-end speaker will be ideal.

Audio spatial
Good to know: spatial audio is -for the moment- only available with Apple products such as AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, but not the “classic” first or second generation AirPods.
Much like the rollout of Lossless Audio, the update including spatial audio for everyone seems gradual. It is therefore not yet online on all devices, but should arrive in the coming hours if this is not already the case.
