Before the official announcements: here is everything Apple is preparing for macOS 10.15

Apple's next keynote should take place in about a month, orJune 3 to 7, as part ofthe annual WWDC event dedicated to developers. During the presentation, the Apple firm would announce, like every year at the same time, the main new features of the different updates of each of its operating systems. And Bloomberg has on this subjectlots of information to share. Regarding the new version of macOS specifically,at number 10.15, here are the major changes planned by the newspaper:

Apple should take advantage of the next version of macOS to begin itsunification strategyof its different OS. So, with macOS 10.15, we can expect the following new features:

  • Easy porting of iPad apps to Mac: developers wanting to offer a macOS version of their iPad app will be able to benefit from anew tool kit making carrying easier. Thus, they will no longer have to rewrite all the code of their app, but simply adapt it to see their app be usable on Mac
  • iPad apps available on macOS: to lead the way, Apple should offer Mac versions of some of its iPad apps. Following on from the Stock Market and Home apps, already available on macOS Mojave and similar to the same iOS apps, macOS 10.15 will welcome an appPodcasts. But onenew location app combining Find My iPhone and Find My Friends functionsshould also be there on Mac
  • Additionally, macOS 10.15 would gain features already available on iOS, includingScreen Time, special effects and stickers for Messages, as well as Siri Shortcuts
  • Finally, appsRemindersetLivresshould each experience a notable refresh on Mac

Bloomberg specifies that in 2020, it will be the turn of iPhone apps to be easily ported to Mac. Finally, in 2021, iPhone, iPad and Mac apps would become universal and usable on any Apple device. The different App Stores would then merge into one within 2 years.
