As you may know, Apple presented the first M4 Macs last month. The MacBook Pro, iMac and Mac mini were entitled to a new, more powerful chip, and to new features likemore Thunderbolt portsultra fast, “nano-texture” screen options and aenhanced Center Stage webcam. A nice upgrade, but still leaves a few models behind.
The rest of the range will be updated soon
According to the latest rumors reported by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple would complete the picture as ofnext spring. The MacBook Air would thus switch to the M4 chip, followed in the middle of the year by the Mac Studio and Mac Pro. If these predictions are confirmed, the entire Mac range would be up to date with this new architecture.
A rare event at Apple
This scenario may seem trivial, but it is actually a fairly unprecedented situation. Rarely have Apple managed to upgrade all of its Macs in such a short period of time. To find traces of such an exploit, one must go back to2013, the year when the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini and the Mac Pro all received a review.
Since then, Apple has approached this cruising speed without ever completely reaching it, often because of a missing model (iMac Pro in 2019, iMac in 2023, etc.). Thanks to the arrival of Apple Silicon chips, the firm now seems on the verge of finding its rhythm.
The M4 Macs in any case promise great developments, as we have seen withthe last passages on the test bench, or as we learnedthe first testers.Andleap forward in performance, but alsoautonomy, with up to 24 hours on a chargefor the 14-inch model. Can't wait for spring to discover what's next!
