Apple has used glass since the first iPhone
from the Gorilla brand which continues to evolve and strengthen its resistance
to shocks. End of 2014, Gorillaunveiled the fourth generationof their glass which equips
the screens of many smartphones, with 80% resistance to falls at
height of 1 meter.
Gorilla recently unveiled thefifth generation of its glass
Gorilla Glass, which could equip the iPhone 7 and very probably
the iPhone 8. According to the company, Gorilla Glass 5 is capable of
resist 80% of falls from a height of 1.60 meters.
This height puts the smartphone screen at face height, which is
better than Gorilla Glass 4 which was resistant to falls only from the
belt level, approximately 1 meter.
Good news for daily users, because the broken screen is
one of the leading causes of iPhone repairs from third-party services and
d’Apple.
This new generation of Gorilla glass could be particularly
useful for the iPhone 8, because according to the latest rumors it would have a
new all-glass design like the iPhone 4, hence the importance
to use a resistant material.
