The OLED iPad had been announced for months by the various specialists of the Apple brand as “imminent”. Many were banking on marketing during the year, or, at the latest, in 2022. But according to the latest report from DSCC, a site specializing in the screen market, we will still have to wait a few months before seeing an OLED iPad in Apple Stores. The Cupertino company would not in fact wish to market its product before2022 for the iPad Air, and 2023 for the iPad Pro.
While Apple's competitors are all switching to OLED, one after the other, on the Cupertino side, patience is required. It must be said that the Apple brand has just made a transition to its most premium model, the iPad Pro, in terms of the screen technology used. The mini-LED has just arrived, it is difficult for Apple to replace it after only one generation of tablets. One more reason to delay the arrival of OLED on iPads.
The Touchbar: end clap?
In the extensive report made by DSCC about Apple and the OLED market in general, an aside is made about the TouchBar, which after all, is an OLED screen too, although we sometimes forget that. The latter, which has never managed to suit its audience, should disappear in the coming months, according to information from DSCC.
Other analysts like Ming-Chi Kuo and Mark Gurman had already announced the same thing a few months ago. According to them, the decision was made internally to end this small touch bar on MacBooks. The only remaining point of contention among analysts:the «date» of the end of the TouchBar. Some believe that Apple will release one last model with this technology before abandoning it, others, more radical, think that we will no longer see this touch bar above the keyboard of a MacBook.
