Mark Gurman delivered his predictions for 2021 a few days ago for the Bloomberg newspaper andalso joins Ming-Chi Kuo on several subjects. As part of its analyses, we were able to learn more about what the Cupertino company would concoct for the year that has just begun in terms of Macs, and in particular theiMac, ofMac Pro, but also MacBook Pros.
In addition to new office Macs, therefore, Apple would precisely preparetwo new MacBook Pros, one 14″ and the other 16″. Both would be equipped with aApple Mx homemade chip, other than the M1 seen on Mac mini, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 13″ from late 2020. This would be an even more efficient Apple Silicon processor model… The screen panel should also be of better quality than that equipping MacBook Pros on shelves to date.
On the design side, there would beno major changes expected, apart from thepossible removal of the Touch Bar. It is in fact rumored that in the laboratories of the Californian company, engineers are projecting different concepts of MacBook Pro 14 and 16″ with and without this touch bar introduced on MacBook Pro 15″ in 2016 and has been the target of numerous criticisms since.
On the other hand, this new generation of MacBook Pro couldsign the return of MagSafe, this magnetic adapter used for recharging the battery and appreciated for its practicality. Indeed, on MacBooks that are equipped with it, released before 2017 and the switch to USB-C for charging, pulling on the charging cable has the only consequence of disconnecting the plug, without causing any more damage than that, in most cases. The MagSafe has this advantage oflimit the risksfalling MacBook or broken plug, during a collision, such as a foot caught in the cable.
If Apple is planning a return of MagSafe, this MagSafe/USb-C back and forth would not be appreciated by everyone, but we are convinced that the first technology, for charging, is more interesting than the second. Because in addition to the fact that the plug is magnetic, with MagSafe, charging could also gain power.
Clearly, if Bloomberg is right, 2021 could be a very good year for Macs!
