Opera One: the new browser that wants to make a place on Mac

Opera via to unveil its brand new browser, Opera One. Compatible with both Windows and macOS, the app offers many features similar to Safari or Mozilla Firefox and can be installed now from the developer's website. The focus appears to have been on artificial intelligence, with free access to the performance of OpenAI's GPT language model. Which is of course reminiscent of the efforts of Bing (Microsoft) in this area, or ofGoogle with Bard.

Opera One's AI-powered tool is calledAria, and is accessible directly from the left side panel of the software. It is a generative chatbot, to which users can ask questions to try to find out more about a particular subject, to obtain a cooking recipe or to create emails adapted to their recipients.

A fully customizable browser

With Opera One, Internet users can also imitate the tab groups of Safari or Google Chrome with an alternative called here Tab Islands. The idea is then to bring together the sites visited according to each theme or each current project, to reduce distractions and optimize navigation between each page.

Compatibility

Opera One is not available for all Macs, however, at least not yet. You will therefore need to have a machine running OS X 10.13 at least, but this includes most of the most recent computers such as the new15-inch MacBook Air M2or the iMac M1.

Opera also offers its own mobile app on the App Store for iOS. With a key advantage: that of having an integrated virtual private network andfree, allowing for example to access the content of certain sites blocked in the users' country, but accessible from another region. The iPhone also offers its VPN from the Settings app, but this one is quite different.
