- A MagSafe external battery with USB-C port is reportedly on the way
- The AirPods Pro 2 would also switch to USB-C
- We don't know when these new features will be released, but probably in the coming weeks.
In all likelihood, Apple is preparing to unveil new USB-C accessories to go with the iPhone 15, potentially also equipped with the same standard. Among the new features to come, journalist Mark Gurman mentions the case of the MagSafe external battery, which allows you to extend the autonomy of the mobile, or even the wireless charger for Apple Watch. The connected watch is the most popular in the world, far ahead of its alternatives running Android. A new version is also expected during theTuesday keynote.
With this, still according to the same source, the AirPods will all be updated to USB-C, too. No model is equipped to date, but we know that the manufacturer still markets four different editions. On the one hand, the second generation, which is the most affordable but dates from 2019 – and could therefore well be withdrawn from the shelves shortly. And on the other hand, the following version, as well asthe second generation AirPods Proand the AirPods Max wireless headphones. Count on more than 600 euros for the latter.
A fantastic MagSafe external battery
To go further,Mark Gurmanexplains to learn more about the unique design of the next MagSafe external battery. This would make it possible to power up to two iPhones at the same time, which is impossible today. A value proposition which is reminiscent of that of the Vision Pro, capable for its part, perhaps, of supporting several batteries…
At Apple, however, the price of accessories remains rather expensive compared to the overall pricing of third-party brands. And with inflation, we will probably have to expect increasing amounts with these new products. Despite everything, we can bet that the transition to the universal standard will allow more competition. THELightningbeing a proprietary design, offering compatible devices requires a lot of effort from companies, forced to negotiate with Cupertino.
Nothing during the keynote?
Although the details on all of these new features are relatively precise, it is still difficult to know more about their potential release dates. But Mark Gurman believes that no AirPods model will see the light of day this year, with AirPods Pro with USB-C still being marketed as the second generation. However, a more advanced version could see the light of day in2025.
Moreover, it is unlikely that the various accessories announced here will also be announced during tomorrow's conference. Meet at 7 p.m. (Paris time) to find out for sure.
