Finally, no Apple VR headset for WWDC 2022?

You may not have known it, but Apple is organizing its big annual conference for developers fromJune 6next. For the occasion, we should discover the new features of iOS 16 andmacOS Mammothif the rumors are true. But the star product of the event could be quite different.

Indeed, for several months the rumors in the corridors concerning the arrival of amixed reality headsetsigned by the apple brand are constantly multiplying. And today, two influencers often well informed about Cupertino's secret projects are trying to teach us more about it.

Ming-Chi Kuo

The first is none other than Ming-Chi Kuo, now a famous Taiwanese researcher working for TFI Securities. For the expert, there would be no question of any virtual or augmented reality headset during WWDC 2022. And for good reason: the device would not havenot yet started productionon a large scale, a step necessary several weeks before stocks are made available.

Same thing forrealityOS, the supposed name of the beast's operating system.

Robert Scoble's opinion

For Robert Scoble, a podcaster based in the heart of Silicon Valley, the matter is a little more complex. The creator believes that new AR products will be well presented at the next Worldwide Developer Conference, but as its name indicates, intended for publishers only. They would then be offered anew working environment to create three-dimensional scenes, the first step in a series of announcements over several quarters.

Apple's WWDC will be the first of three different events that Apple is preparing for the next year introducing the world to augmented reality (a new form that we haven't seen yet).

It's only January 2023that the hardware would be revealed to the general public according to Scoble, an unlikely date given that Apple tends to come out of the shadows around the month of March.

The marketing of the product, for its part, would require waiting until June 2023, when another WWDC should be organized. We could then discover a helmet withM1 chip, relying on the large-scale neural capacities of the in-house processor which do not seem to be exploited to their maximum to date.

As a reminder, the price of the one that the media tends to nickname “Apple View” has every chance of exceeding thea thousand eurosfrom its beginnings in Europe.
