Hacking on Twitter: Apple's account was also affected

It's a gigantic cyberattack, one that leaves a deep mark on people's minds. This Wednesday evening, the Twitter accounts of Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Uber and even Apple were victims. All of them are among the most influential on the social network, which means that this has not gone unnoticed.

Hackers allegedly took over Twitter employee administration panel

This attack allowed cybercriminals to launch a Bitcoin scam by deploying their messages to the various accounts concerned. In the space of half an hour, more than $100,000 was reportedly recovered.

On the tweets in question, a BTC address was mentioned on which, in a great burst of generosity, it was promised to pay you double the amount sent. This is exactly the type of content that Apple broadcast onhis profilefor very long minutes.

It is difficult to know the exact origin of these serial hacks, butaccording to Rachek Tobac, the president of the cybersecurity company SocialProof Security, it seems the hackers were able to take possession of the administration panel of Twitter employees. This then allowed them to change passwords and disable multi-factor authentications. Twitter therefore had to resolve to block certified accounts for several hours before restoring them.

The scale of this hack, however, raises questions and demonstrates that faced with skilled and highly motivated attackers, even web giants are not infallible.
