Playstation, X-Box 360 and Wii U are moving towards smartphones and tablets

The E3 show in Los Angeles is being held this
very moment, like every year, and the three main manufacturers of
hardware take the opportunity to hold their own keynotes, each in turn. And one
they have a common point: taking into account the smartphone market and
tablets, whether iOS, Android or Windows Phone. A brief overview of
upcoming services.

Nintendo got the ball rolling by announcing that its next console, the intriguing
Wii U planned for next fall, would incorporate its own social network
around the famous Mii of the first Wii of the name: the Miiverse, contraction
from “Mii” and “Universe”. The community aspect will even be integrated into all
Wii U games. For example, you can pause a game at any time and
ask other players for advice about the passage you are on
block.

Even better: with the camera integrated intothe
new Wii U controller/tablet
, we will be able to video chat with
any other user before resuming the game.

All this community aspect, its forums, its trophies, the “memories” that
we can leave it in a game (accessible to other players), and others,
will be grouped in the form of an application available on iPhone, iPod
Touch, iPad and on Android systems and perhaps Windows Phone.
The application will not be available immediately, implied the CEO of
Nintendo, but should arrive on the various stores in the weeks
following the release of the Wii U.

Sony for its part was satisfied with little. Recalling that its Music service
Unlimited available on PS3, PC, Mac but also Android or iOS, now offers
and already 15 million songs, the Japanese manufacturer has returned to the
famous Playstation Suite announced a year ago. Renamed “Playstation Mobile”,
this service will offer Playstation 1 games on Android very soon, the
first compatible smartphone being manufactured by HTC. No button on
the device: it seems that Sony is adapting its classics to the screen
tactile. However, no mention was made of Apple devices. We like
Sony's initiative to open up to competition but it would be good
let them shake off their fleas. If the manufacturer's conference was
interesting on other points (God of War 4 and Last of Us on PS3),
the mobile world and, even worse, the PS Vita, seem to still not be enough
at the center of their attention.

Playstation Mobile is at 1:10 sharp:

Finally, Microsoft was undoubtedly the manufacturer to put the most emphasis on
before its intentions towards smartphones and tablets. In addition to the service of
“X-Box Music” music available next fall and compatible with everything
mobile device (Windows Mobile, Android and iOS), Microsoft announces X-BOX SMART
GLASS, further strengthening the interaction between smartphones and tablets with
the X-Box 360. If Nintendo's Wii U will offer its own tablet/controller on
which we can continue a game if the TV is occupied by someone else,
but by remaining in the same room, Microsoft uses this principle but
differently. Compatible with Windows Mobile, Android and iOS, whether
smartphones or tablets, the X-Box Smart Glass app will allow several
things.

– First of all we can use our smartphone or tablet as
remote control of the X-Box 360. As multimedia possibilities become more and more
richer, and with the arrival this fall of Internet Explorer on 360, this
possibility will be far from being a simple gadget and will finally allow real surfing
on TV for example. – If you purchased a film on 360 streaming, you
can watch it on your smartphone or tablet on the train and once
at home, resume it on X-Box 360 exactly where you left
interrupted. The screen of the smartphone or tablet will then become
interactive, with access to all the information on the film or its casting. - THE
TV channels compatible with Smart Glass will be able to offer interactive content
on tablet and smartphone. In the example shown in conference, we see
someone watching Games of Thrones on HBO: in real time, sound
screen in his hands shows him the locations of the action on a large map and
gives him lots of information. The example is not the sexiest there is (a
map ? meh) but shows the possible interactions well. – Same when
of a game: a lot of information can be revealed about your
smartphone or tablet, which will even allow interaction with it. This can
be interesting on a strategy or even sports game to manage the
forming a team.

Smart Glass will be released next fall on iPhone / iPad / Windows Phone
and Android. Hey, at the same time as the release of the Wii U. What a coincidence.

Smart Glass starts at 48 minutes sharp:
