Why does the App Store beat the Google Play Store hands down?

The company SplitMetrics has just publisheda report regarding the App Store and the Play Store, the Google and Apple application stores. SplitMetrics is a mobile app growth company that helps companies optimize their ads. One of the goals of SplitMetrics is to increase ad conversion rate.

As a reminder, the conversion rate is the percentage of users who complete a desired action on a web page or in an application. This could be purchasing a product, or subscribing to a newsletter.

The new SplitMetrics study is calledASO Benchmarks &amp ; Mobile Trends Report 2024. It offers an overview of the performance achieved by the App Store and the Play Store. We learn that the App Store is much more efficient than the Alphabet store.

The Apple Store does better

According to SplitMetrics, the Apple Store performs better in multiple App Store categories, across several metrics, including engagement rate. Conversion rate is explained above, but regarding engagement rate, it is used to measure the level of interaction users have with a post, content or advertisement. In our case, given that these are applications in the App Store, engagement is measured by the number of clicks on an application after a search or by the number of reviews left by users.

In other words, in the App Store, users visit more pages, leave more reviews, and make more purchases. This is probably due to the App Store UI, which is better than the Play Store.

Apple users are also more picky than Android users.Once on the page of an app, fewer of them download it, but they inquire more.

An interesting fact that appears in the SplitMetrics study is thatApps that publish a video presentation in the App Store are less likely to convert a user. The paradox with video is that it is more likely to be viewed, and this often penalizes developers. Between a preface with well-chosen screenshots without video, and one with video, the study shows that the second offers better results.

Today's study joinsprevious reportswhich prove that iPhone usersare worth more than those of Android.
