M2 Pro chip: engraved in 3 nanometers from September

A new article fromCommercial Times, a Taiwanese media outlet closest to Apple's subcontractors, ensures thatTSMCis preparing to release the first M2 Pro chips from the factory at the end of the year. More precisely, it is the month of September which would be targeted by the founder, a key partner of the Apple firm to design its computer and mobile processors.

It should be the first component of its kind to be engraved with a precision of three nanometers. According to other information from Mark Gurman, the parts in question would be integrated under the hood of twoMacBook Proand a Mac mini. Portable models will likely succeedthose that were announced a year ago now. Depending on the manufacturer's choice, older generations could be removed from shelves or kept in stores but at a reduced price as is the case withMacBook Air with M1 motherboard.

Just in time for customers?

With this, let us remember that the next Apple conference where the machines will be unveiled would be organized inoctober, just after the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro event. With production starting just a few weeks earlier, the products are surely likely to be available in limited quantities at least initially. It is also possible that the manufacturer lets several days pass between the presentation and the first shipments, as was the case with the MacBook Pro M2.

No major improvement

When they arrived in October 2021, the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros were quickly described as real gems, thanks to a return to basics with not only the HDMI port but also an SD card reader. The screen has also been enlarged thanks to the notch diverting the camera and theperformancesThe overall performance of the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips soared in the benchmarks.

So don't count too much on a revolutionfor the last quarter, but rather on a simple update with new processor and of course macOS Ventura as operating system. The advantage is that the price of the 2021 models could therefore be more affordable as a result: don't go to checkout right away.
