Benchmarks for Qualcomm's future high-end processor have just been published. We discover with a certain surprise: although the component is planned to be released several months after the A16 Bionic chip in the iPhone 14 Pro, the latter would remain more efficient. For comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 obtains a score of 1,483 with a single active core, compared to4 709 pointswith multiple hearts. But for the A16 SoC, the figures are 1,874 points compared to 5,372 points under the same conditions.
These differences could be explained in several ways. First of all, you should know that if Apple's motherboard has been tested in an iPhone, this is not at all the case for the Snapdragon, which could greatly change the situation. Indeed, if theiPhone 14 Proare equipped with 6 GB of RAM and a Neural Engine to accompany the beast, we do not know what is hidden in the other equipment tested here.
Additionally, you should know that these numbers do not take into account energy consumption. It is therefore possible that one of the chips is much more demanding, which will not indicate anything good for the future of devices equipped with it.According to the latest tests, however, the iPhone 14 Pro is doing quite well in this area..
Qualcomm's marketing calls out
For its part, Qualcomm continues to praise the raw power of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 which, indeed, proves to be top-notch. For the founder, this product should thus“revolutionize” the smartphone industrypremium. This term covers most mobiles billed for more than six hundred euros per unit, but the definition can vary depending on the source.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be releasedavant 2023. No precise date at the moment, but we can easily assume that the system will soon be integrated into mobile phones from Samsung, Xiaomi or even Oppo. Google, for its part, is also developing its own chips called Tensor and directly competing with the Apple silicon program. We find them under the hood of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro,whose camera capabilities are close to that of the iPhone 14 Pro.
