No additional levels for Super Mario Run: traditional model in a mobile world that has changed

Last week, Nintendo released
a particularly anticipated game exclusively on iPhone and iPad. Super Mario
Run, available here is indeed a first. The Japanese console manufacturer
having until nowchosen to reserve his heroes for his own
machine
s.

The game
mentioned here when it was released
, for which we were able
share tips here
, is offered according to a financial model rather
traditional and different from what is now often practiced on mobile.
The title is available for free download to allow you to test the first
levels, then a purchase of 10 euros unlocks the suite in full. SO
that a minor update arrived very recently, the question of
the evolution of the game and the addition of levels could then arise. The answer
is now known.

This is theWall Street Journal reporter in Japanwho
takes from his contacts at Nintendo: there will be nono addition of
levels in Super Mario Run
, this is a full title. The bets
updated like the one that appeared last night, will be proposed to correct
bugs.

This should notnot surprising for those who are used to offers
classics
(historical more precisely) of video games. A game is
launched, it is complete and paid at once. In fact, additional content is
still appeared in Super Mario Run, but it is aboutsimple
decorations
of the village, offered for the Christmas period, this does not
does not concern the heart of the game itself.

Nintendo thus distinguishes itself from the mobile gaming practices that we see from
more and more: the release of a free game, with advertising and/or a
myriad opportunities to pay to progress faster or stronger, while
that contents (levels, universes) are added regularly with the objective
to make the game last well beyond the original experience. We thus retain
examples of Candy Crush Saga levels or regular evolutions of
card games or evolutions of a Clash of Clans.

Younger players may be surprised by this type of “premium” game.
such as we see less and less, while Nintendo regulars
last century version will have anticipated that the game was complete.

The question will arise and the answer will come from sales and income:
such a life title
certainly longer than it seems as we have been able to mention here
,
morenot renewed regularly, will it be able to find its audience in
duration and prove profitable for Nintendo?
There is no doubt that the
managers of the Japanese giant will monitor this very closely and that the future of
Nintendo's production (and not only that), could be linked to this reception.
If we don't lookwhatthe notes on the Store, this first
test does not seem to be in line with the expectations of the majority of players….
YetTHE
buyers seem happy
.

Are you more of a one-shot or freemium model?
